SURGERY
General Surgery
Possibly the most likely surgery many animals may need would be ovariohysterectomy (spay), castration (neuter), lump removal or declaw. Although they are classified as "routine" procedures, they are unique to each pet and treated as anything but routine.

Orthopedic Surgery
Our doctors are experienced in handling various orthopedic problems ranging from cruciate ligament surgery (similar to ACL ruptures in people) to fracture repair. We also work with several referral hospitals for more difficult cases.
Laser Surgery
The CO2 laser allows us to utilize the latest technology, helping to minimize bleeding, swelling, and pain during various surgical procedures.
Dental Care
Lack of dental care is associated with a wide range of medical problems such as cardiac and renal disease, not to mention one of our most common presenting complaints - bad breath! Our staff can educate and demonstrate which level of home care may be best for you and your pet as well as perform dental cleanings or tooth extractions if necessary.

IMAGING
Radiography
Every day we use radiographs to help diagnose injuries and diseases in order to formulate medical plans. Our X-ray machine and automatic processor allow us to get crucial information in just minutes.
Ultrasonography
Sometimes, more specific information may be needed to help your pet and it is often easily found by performing this painless procedure. This more advanced form of imaging is terrific for everything from early pregnancy diagnosis, to evaluation for bladder stones, to detection of certain forms of cancer. The ultrasound is also a good tool to aid in biopsies and other diagnostics.
Endoscopy
Using our endoscope gives us a view inside various areas of the G.I. system with a tiny camera that is used under sedation. We have even used it to take biopsies, place feeding tubes and remove foreign objects your pet may have ingested.

PREVENTATIVE HEALTH CARE
Vaccinations
We will provide a vaccination schedule based on your pets' lifestyle and health requirements which will help maintain quality of life.
Parasite Control
Heartworm and intestinal parasites are two of the most important and unfortunately overlooked problems we deal with. Heartworm is diagnosed in several of our patients every year but can easily and affordably be prevented. Some skin and intestinal parasites can be transmitted to people, but also are easily prevented and treated.
Geriatric Medicine
As our pets continue to live longer lives, we are able to utilize a number of diagnostic and treatment options to help the later years be active and comfortable. We can also help you make difficult choices when those years are ending.
Reproductive Medicine
At High Point, we enjoy working with breeders to make their hobby successful and to help improve their favorite breed. Blood work and vaginal cytology can help in timing of breeding. Chilled or fresh semen collection and artificial insemination are available. Ultrasonography can confirm pregnancy and radiographs can help us determine the size of a litter.
Nutritional Counseling
Our staff can help you understand and choose foods for all the stages of life in times of health or illness.
Behavior Counseling
The basis of a great life with your pet has always been appropriate behavior. Lack of it is the primary reason pets are abandoned and euthanized every year. We can assist in choosing techniques for all aspects of training and we work with several local trainers and behavioral counselors for more advanced education.

INTERNAL MEDICINE
Cancer Treatment
Although it is never a desirable diagnosis, cancer can be a highly treatable disease through medicine, surgery or both. Some cases may require a visit to an oncologist at one of the referral hospitals and we have experience in the follow up care required after you and your pet return home.
Chronic Disease
Caring for a pet with chronic illness such as diabetes can change the lifestyle of your entire family. We can help educate you in providing you the very best daily care, from considering nutrition and medication to scheduling testing and adapting to changes that may occur.
Infectious Disease
Infectious diseases can affect your pet at any age. Our doctors will recommend diagnostic testing, prevention, and treatment based on an analysis of lifestyle and a physical examination.
